So this started off as a word doc titled “Internet Marketing Notes Out Of My Own Head ” then as I was writing it I realized I was basically talking about two different types of traffic. So I guess that’s the reason I titled it that… Now that I think about it, the latter might have sounded cooler.. Whatever, here goes..

Search traffic is the best form of “actual buyer traffic” out there. When somebody has a problem or a need, one of the first places they go is to a search engine. Why? Because they need a solution to their problem or a resolve to their need. Plain and simple… Think to yourself about the last time you went to a search engine to find something. You were either seeking information or knowledge on a topic or you were refining your search each time because you were looking for a service or a product to fulfill your need.

Social traffic from sites like Facebook or Twitter is best described as “people at a party” whatever party that may be… These people are not on Facebook and Twitter actively searching for a solution to their problem. They are on these sites strictly out of curiosity of what their friends, family or peers are up to and posting about. Not to mention to comment on their friends profiles and their own profiles.

The best way to approach social traffic is by actively engaging in the conversation or by “throwing your own party”. From a business (marketing and sales) stand point what I mean about “throwing your own party” is that you can actually create some sort of contest to get people to actively engage with your social media property whether it be Facebook or Twitter. More specifically Facebook… With Facebook you can actually start a contest that revolves around a game or something that your users can play and accumulate points to win a prize.

This creates a sense of competition of “who can get the best score” or “who has the most points”.

Think about it. What do or did you do when you went to a party? Either you sat or walked around and socialized with others, or you engaged in games like; pool, darts, bocce ball, beer pong (whoops was that my outside voice)… Anyway you get the point

So, as a conclusion and a rule of thumb. Don’t try to shove your products and services down peoples throats on your social networks. Just be cool on your social networks. Make your best products and services available on search engines for those buyers that are frantically searching to fulfill their needs and problems.

Talk soon

A compelling future …

Have you created a compelling future for yourself? You know, something that keeps you going everyday?

I recently just heard a pretty shocking story…

A psychiatrist was asked to work with a group of HIV positive patients inside of a hospital. All whom thought that they obviously had “no” future and felt pretty hopeless.

The psychiatrist, let’s call him Ian, started off with a simple question in a one on one session with a patient. “Are you going to be dead by tea time?” “No” the HIV patient responded back.

“How about by tomorrow morning” Ian asked. HIV patient, “no”

“How about next week” Ian asked. “No” responded the patient.

“Will you be dead in 3 months” Ian asked. “No” said the HIV positive patient.

“How about in 2 years” asked Ian. “No” the patient responded.

Slowly but surely the HIV positive patient, who was certain that he had no future before, slowly began to realize that he did in fact still have some time left in his life.

What is it that Ian helped the patient realize? That there was and still is hope in his future.

By slowly breaking the blindness of a hopeless future, this patient now began to have hope for his own future over the next few days, weeks, months and coming years.

This patient obviously had a much brighter vision of his future. That vision began to become more clear to him as Ian questioned him.

To make a long story come to an end, the patient ended up with hope.

When you set out on a new path in life that you certainly are unfamiliar with, there is no doubt that you will be tried and tested to see what you are made of.

Every entrepreneur walks down this very path in his or her life. For if it wasn’t for people like you and I, (freedom seekers, business owners, marketers, entrepreneurs), there would be no hope for anybody’s future.

Economys depend on the sales of products and services by people like you and I. Anybody who thinks otherwise has got it all wrong.

See, YOU are the only one in control of YOUR future. Not the government or anyone else. You have the power to go out and create something of value for others in any marketplace.

Learn to depend more on that thing between your ears to do your thinking for you.

What business are you in? What market do you serve? Whatever it is, go out and serve it with everything you’ve got. It’s those small, day by day, incremental changes that will ultimately make the huge change that you want to see in your life.

Don’t ever give up hope for your own future or your families.

Keep going.

Don’t ever stop looking for answers. It’s all a part of the “heroes’ journey”.

My hope and prayer for you is that you re-align yourself with your hopes or dreams for your own abundant future and that you see it come to pass.

Talk soon
Nick

Picture a clean slate…

You arrive at work and your online and offline inboxes are empty… everything’s done. Everything is scheduled and in its proper place. You come home to a spotless home… the house, garage, and yard completely organized. Did you feel it? That weight that just lifted from your shoulders? That peace of mind feeling that finally everything is finally in order for you to begin your best life? It’s possible.

“Your ability to be most productive is directly proportional to your ability to relax.”

“People become really quite remarkable when they start thinking that they can do things. When they believe in themselves, they have the first secret of success.”

— Norman Vincent Peale: Author, The Power of Positive Thinking.

The basis of all accomplishment in life starts with the thought that you CAN do something or you CAN attain your goals in life. Whatever you set your focus on, you will attain. Then you have the distraction factor. In life there is no way to completely avoid distractions however you do have the power to NOT let them get in the way of achieving the ideal life for yourself and your family.

Stay committed to what you started and stay true to yourself. Keep taking those steps toward that vision that you have.
